Wabi-sabi is a Japanese aesthetic and philosophical concept that focuses on the acceptance of imperfection and the transience of things. It is derived from two terms: "wabi," which refers to the beauty of simplicity, rusticity, and humility; and "sabi," which refers to the beauty that comes with aging and wear, often embracing the idea that aged objects have a special character and history.
Collectively, wabi-sabi celebrates impermanence, asymmetry, and irregularity, valuing things as they are rather than seeking perfection. It is an approach that promotes a deeper connection with nature and the present moment, favoring appreciation for the simple and the authentic.
